Cool Bananas is a gem! From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcome. The hostel is clean, tidy and cozy with a great location. But what truly sets it apart are the people. Scott and the team create a warm, friendly vibe and it was incredibly easy to connect with fellow travellers and make friends. Exactly what a great hostel should be. Highly recommended, we’ll definitely be back!

Of all the hostels I’ve stayed at during my travels, this has been my absolute favourite so far.The rooms are nice and clean, and there is plenty of space in the beautiful outdoor area, if you need some quiet time to yourself (try the couches!). And once you’re done recharging, you can go fly a plane (amazing!), take surf lessons (also great fun!), or hike the Red Rock Trail (beautiful!). There are also surfboards and bikes for rent, a pool table, plenty of books and board games, and lots of social activities, including karaoke, trivia nights, Werewolf, sunset trips to 1770, and visits to the local tavern. If you get the chance, try barefoot ball! 😁Agnes Water itself is a beautiful and highly underrated place. Most travellers regret not being able to stay longer, because they already have tours booked in Airlie Beach or Fraser Island. So if you have the luxury of time, give yourself a few extra days here and explore this uniqe place.I originally intended to stay for a maximum of two weeks to get back on my feet, but I ended up staying for two and a half months and only left because my visa was about to expire… and it’s not uncommon for people to come back for a second visit. Many friends I said goodbye to returned shortly afterwards — and so did I. 😂Thank you for everything!P.S. Yes, the rooms only have fans and no air conditioning, but some things are worth sweating for! 😉 I miss you guys. See you soon! 😄❤️P.P.S. If you see a stranded turtle on the beach, give her shade and call the hostel — they’ll contact the turtle rescue team!

I had an amazing stay at Cool Bananas. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was super relaxed and welcoming. The boss Scott was very friendly and so was his dog. It was a clean, very social and well organised place. It’s close to the beach and shops and the perfect getaway out of the bigger cities. Also a good place to go surfing. (I did the introduction surf lesson that you can book at the reception and it didn’t dissapoint). Don’t miss out on this hidden gem when you’re travelling the east coast of Australia. I’d definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone. Take that detour and visit Cool Bananas in Agnes Water!
